Overview

Happiness is a rare commodity in the 21st century and if you are looking for some moment of happiness, look no further. Tsum valley trek takes you to this valley of happiness, a land untouched by modern day development, a land lost in time and a land disconnected from the world. Not known to the world until 2003, this trek very recently opened its doors for the international visitors. Even now, to protect its fragile ecosystem and to preserve their cultural heritage, this government implies several permits to filter the people visiting Tsum valley.

 The uniqueness about this land is its people, names as Tsumba. There are altogether 4000 Tsumbas and they are nowhere to be found other than in the Tsum valley. And, these people are one of the kindest people alive in the country. They still believe in core values like family, work and protecting their own. Apart from that, they are as well extremely religious people and you will notice that as soon as you step in their land. The entire valley, including each and every houses is covered with prayer flags. Furthermore, there are several chortens and Gompas (monasteries) built out of the local resources. You will as well see several prayer wheels and not even a single stone slate where ‘om mani padme hum’ isn’t carved.

 Tsum valley trek is not just a good trekking destination in Nepal but also the best destination for meditation. From the age old time to this day, there have been several sages and aesthetics who have had meditated in the hills of Tsum valley. One of the most profound figures was Guru Padmasambhava who is also known as Guru Milarepa. Even till the day, the visitors can see the footsteps of the mentioned holy figure on the stones of a cave. The terrain of the valley of happiness certainly gives the positive vibes. Tsum valley trek is a grade 3 trek and often considered as a side trek to the Manaslu circuit.

 Apart from that, the terrain of Tsum valley is terrific. The entire settlement is almost above 3000 meters and is surrounded by high hills. Because of its high positioning, Tsum valley trek is undoable year around. However, if you ever decide to do this trek, you will not be disappointed by the views of the mountains in Manaslu and Ganesh ranges seen from vantage points. Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Day 03: Kathmandu to Arughat (608m/1,994ft) Duration: 7 hours on drive

Day 04: Arughat  to Soti Khola (700m/2,296ft) Duration : 4 – 5 hours

Day 05: Soti Khola to Machha Khola (930m/ 3,050ft)  Duration : 5 -7 hours

Day 06: Machha Khola to Jagat (1,340m/4,395ft) Duration: 5 – 7 hours

Day 07: Jagat to Lokpa (2,240m/ 7,349ft)  Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 08: Lokpa to Chumling (2,386m/7,828ft) Duration: 4-5 hours

Day 09: Chumling to Chokangparo (3,031m/9944ft) Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 10: Chokangparo to Nile (3,361m/11,027ft) Duration: 4-5 hours

Day 11: Nile to Mu Gompa (3,700m/12139ft) Duration: 3 hours

Day 12: Mu Gompa to Rachen (3,240m/10,630ft) Duration: 4-5 hours
