Overview

There is no other ultimate trek that puts you to a test than Everest 3 passes trek in the entire region of Khumbu. This trek gets its name from the 3 highest man walkable passes in the region namely, Cho La, Renjo La and Kongma La. This trek could be called an off the beaten trek to the Everest camp that encircles almost the entire Everest region. Several factors like the weather, season and the condition makes this trek a seasonal trek and only for people who love to push the limits and set a new standards.

Alike most of the treks in the region, this trek begins from Lukla airport and shares the same trail with the mainstream Everest base camp trek until Namche Bazar. From here on you would beat the influx and are wilderness bound and on the path of unknown and very less explored. Everest 3 passes trek combines a beautiful mixtures of freshwater alpine lakes of Gokyo, the peak of Gokyo Ri, the 3 highest man walkable passes, the base camp itself, Kalapatthar and the hospitable Sherpa communities. On the other hand, the pine scented trails, rare himalayan thars, local sherpa people and their unique way of cooking cuisines from all around the world and not to forget the locally brewed raksi (liqueur) makes this trek one of its kind.

This trek is rewarding in every norms, from the mountains to the rivers and from natural habitat to man made monasteries and the culture. However, it comes at an expense of adventure in every norms and you need to be physically and mentally prepared to tackle the harsh terrain of the mountains and specially the elevation and the sickness that comes with it. Nevertheless, by the end of the trek you will see 4 of the 8 highest mountains in Nepal and several hundreds of mountains above 6000 meters. Furthermore, you will as well observe two of the oldest monasteries housed in villages of Khumjung. One of the monasteries had been time and again destroyed by fire and natural disaster but reconstructed to its original. The other claims to house a yeti scalp.

Everest three passes trek showcases the world’s highest mountain from three different viewpoints of Kalapathar, Gokyo Ri and the passes. Not only that but also you will see the rare yak caravans sharing their way with the trekkers. Similarly, there are several other aspects, legends, folklores and stories you will unfold along the trail. Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Day 03: Kathmandu – Lukla (2,642m/8,668ft) – Phakding (2,562m/8,700ft): 35 min flight,  3-4 hrs trek

Day 04:  Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,280ft):  5-6 hrs

Day 05: Namche Bazaar – rest, acclimatization and exploration day

Day 06: Trek to Thame, (3800m/12467ft): 3 to 4 hours

Day 07: Trek to Marlung, (4137m/13573ft) :4 to 5 hours

Day 08: Trek to Lungdeng (4600m/15092ft):  2 to 3 hours

Day 09:Trek to Renjo- La ( 5465m/17929ft) to Gokyo Lake (4800m/15748ft)7 – 8 hrs

Day 10: Relax Day at Gokyo Lake

Day 11: Hike to Gokyo RI (5,330m/17,483ft), & trek to Thaknak (4750m/15580ft), 6-7 hrs

5 – 6 hrs

Day 12: Trek to Cho-la Pass (5367m/17604ft) to Dzongla (4,850m/15908ft), 6-7 hrs

Day 13: Trek to Gorakshep (5,160m/16,929ft), 5-6 hrs walk

Day 14: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,357m/17,575ft) and return to Lobuche. 6 to 7 hrs

Day 15:  Lobuche – Kongma La (5,535m/18,159ft) – Chhukung (4,730m/15,518ft): 6-7 hrs

Day 16: Trek to Tengboche (3,867m/12684ft), 4-5 hrs walk

Day 17: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440M/11280ft), 5-6 hrs walk

Day 18: Trek to Lukla(2,642m/8,668ft) , 6-7 hrs walk

Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
