Everest 3 Passes Trek

Welcome to Nepal ! A representative from Crown Earth will receive you at the airport and drop you at your hotel. On this day you will not do much but relax and go around your hotel location. Overnight in Kathmandu.

If you booked this trek long time back your permits are ready before you arrive but if it is a last minute booking you permits will be made on this day. While the back office is busy making permits on the back end, you will get involved in sightseeing some UNESCO world heritage sites. Some time in the day, you will as well do last minute preparation, packing and purchase if necessary. In the evening you will meet your guide and your guide will brief you about the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Your guide will accompany you for this early morning flight to Lukla. Your commuter and your guide will receive you at the hotel and will head for Tribhuwan international airport. The 30 minute scenic flight will land in the most adventurous airport of Lukla. Once in Lukla, you will begin walking your Everest 3 pass trek from in between the beautiful airport side settlement. You will not see much on this day and it is a very good walk to begin Gokyo lake trek with. You will come across village of Cheplung and few hamlets before you enter to a forest that opens to Phakding. Overnight in Phakding. A,B,L,D

You will mostly walk along Dudh Koshi river and majority of today’s walk is uphill. Since its an uphill ride today, you will take one climb at a time and walk slow. However, most of the trail traverses through forests of Rhododendron, Pine, Fir and magnolia which makes your experience pleasant. You will as well get the first glimpse of Mount Thamserku. After getting one of your permits checked several times you will enter Sagarmatha National park from beyond Monjo. The climb gets arduous and the altitude kicks in from beyond Jhorsale. It is uttermost important to acclimatize in Everest region before heading further up. Although this day is categorized as the rest day but you will not stay idle but rather hike to higher ground before descending down to Namche. There are several options for side trek from here and depending upon the condition the guide will take you to one of them. You will spend almost 4-5 hours exploring the higher ground and it will help you better adjust to higher altitude. Overnight in Namche. A,B,L,D

If well acclimatized, Thame makes a wonderful side trip. However, you would only ascend up by the Namche Gompa and through the forest of pine and Rhododendron to spend a night there. The trail is mostly uphill but is beautiful and in between you will hear the jingle created by Yaks grazing. This is the very section of the trail where there are high chances of spotting musk deers. You will traverse through several religiously and culturally important villages and hamlets to make it to your final destination. You would as well enjoy the view of Kongde Ri, a peak rising from the ground of Thame. Overnight in Thame. A,B,L,D

Immediately out of Thame you will make a short descend. The first village you reach out of here is Thamo Teng and on the outskirt of this village is a 350 years old Kyaro Kerok Gompa. From here, the first climb is gentle and from the stream of Langmuche the climb gets arduous and all the way to the village of Marlung. The accommodation here are basic as most of the guest house were destroyed by the earthquake in 2015. Overnight in Marlung. A,B,L,D

The day is short and easy in comparison to the days spent and days to come. Today’s day is
more of a preparation walk for crossing over the Renjo La pass. We keep it short and simple to preserve energy. The walk is more or less steep and it takes around 2-3 hours without rushing. Overnight in Lungden. Lungden is also know as Lumde. A,B,L,D

This is your 1st of the 3 high passes in the Everest loop and in order to cross the pass in one day you will have to begin before sunrise. The trek is going to be slow paced and high altitude trek with multiple rests. If you are not able to walk as quickly please do not feel embarassed or pained because altitude makes your pace slow. The climb to the top is around 4 hours and from the zenith of the pass awaits spectacular views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taboche, Cho La, Ngozumpa glacier and many others. Your eyes will be captivated by the emerald green lake of Gokyo and the snow clad peak of Cho Oyu while descending down the pass. Overnight in Gokyo. A,B,L,D

It is a much deserved rest on today’s day. You will not rush to wake up and reach to your destination but relax and take one thing at a time. After relaxed morning, you will not stay idle on the day but go around to explore other lakes in the region. Its almost all day trip but in a relaxed mode. Overnight in Gokyo again. A,B,L,D

Before heading out to the destination of the day, you would first climb a peak namely Gokyo Ri. This peak does not require any additional permit and is an excellent acclimatization trip before venturing to the Cho La pass. It takes around 4 hours to climb up and down the peak and the summit of Gokyo Ri is an excellent vantage point. The views of Everest and other mountains including the Ngozumpa glacier is awe inspiring. Once you descent the peak, you will walk along the glacier and ever changing path to reach Thaknak. This is going to be another tough day on the trail. Since you have been acclimatized for plenty of times, there are very less chances of you falling sick. The day begins early in the morning and before sunrise. You will walk through loose rock and scree and trail marked with cairns. Despite the journey takes around 6 - 7 hrs for a fit and experienced hiker, it may take anywhere from 7 - 10 hours depending upon the trekker. The views of Gokyo valley one one hand and the views of Amadablam on the other side of the valley is beautiful. Overnight in Dzongla.A,B,L,D

Since this is a rigorous trek, you are going to venture to Gorakshep. And as you have seen the everest from several different angles, you will not visit the viewpoint of Kalapatthar. Rather, once your reach Gorakshep, you will take much required rest. Gorakshep is a lake basin which is a temporary village and only there to serve trekkers going to the base camp of the Everest. Overnight in Gorakshep.

Its more of a relaxed and gradual ascend and descend in comparision to the trek you have overcome till this point. However, walking to the everest base camp is on the trail full of loose rocks and hence, you need to be extra cautious while taking a step. Once you complete your trek to the base camp and back, which usually takes around 4 hours, you will begin descending further to Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche. A,B,L,D

This is the last of the three high passes that you will traverse through on the Everest three pass trek. Not only that but also, this is the remotest of the three passes and the pass that is often left on its own. You will begin early in the morning alike the other pass days as it takes more than 7 hrs to cross and reach the other side. The views as well are different from the other passes and its beautiful in its own aspect. Overnight in Chukkung. A,B,L,D

With beautiful views of Chukkung and the Chukkung Ri, you will head down towards your destination of the day. Once again you will enter the pastures and lush green forest of pine. With the beautiful views of Amadablam, Lhotse and the peak of Everest you reach your destination of the day. Tengboche is a monastery settlement where majority of the inhabitants are monks. The monastery is considered as one of the largest in the region and is believed to have cosmic powers to have been survived through natural and other disaster till the day. Overnight in Tengboche. The trek will start from all the way down up to Phunki Thanga. After crossing the suspension bridge you need to climb up to the Kyangjuma then after you will get comfortable way up to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar. A,B,L,D

You may find this descend one of the most difficult of all days. The trek from Namche to the bed of Dudh koshi is considered to be the most difficult and from here on, the trail becomes comparatively easier on the knees. Overnight in Lukla. A,B,L,D
