Manaslu Circuit Trek

Overview

Manaslu circuit trek is the 21st century Annapurna circuit trek, the classic trek. It is the home of the spirit mountain, namely Manaslu, one of the 10 highest mountains in the world. Untouched by development and far from the eyes of the travellers, meaning no roads throughout and less traffic as a result of additional permits, this trek is tranquil and as well as one of the best preserved trekking destinations in the country.

The majority of Manaslu circuit trek lies in the Gorkha region of Nepal and only towards the end, it merges on the trails of Annapurna. This 252 kilometers of trek begins from Arughat, a small trek put in town that is split in half by a tributary. From mere 800 meters of altitude of Arughat, the trek climbs to one of the highest man walk able passes of Larkya La in no time. It is not about the elevation difference what is intriguing, but what you see in between these elevation with take your breath away. The landscape, the flora and fauna and the inhabitants change as the change in climate and elevation.

The race varies from Brahmins to Sherpas. The lower elevation is crowded by mixed race whereas the alpine is home to the rare Nubris, Tsumbas and the Bhutias. Manaslu circuit trek also is home to Tsum valley. You will have to take a small detour to this land of happiness. Throughout the way, you are greeted by warm hearted locals who reside in their locally made wooden houses.

You are not alone when you walk on the trails of Manaslu circuit, you are often greeted by passing animals and birds. This is the home of one of the highest mountains, the rarest Nupri people; the descendant of 16th century Tibetans. You will fall in love with the shy red pandas and legends have said it, after Dolpo region, this is the very place where snow leopards have been spotted by travelers.
