Everest Gokyo Trek

Welcome to Nepal ! A representative from Crown Earth will receive you at the airport and drop you at your hotel. On this day you will not do much but relax and go around your hotel location. Overnight in Kathmandu.

If you booked this trek long time back your permits are ready before you arrive but if it is a last minute booking you permits will be made on this day. While the back office is busy making permits on the back end, you will get involved in sightseeing some UNESCO world heritage sites. Some time in the day, you will as well do last minute preparation, packing and purchase if necessary. In the evening you will meet your guide and your guide will brief you about the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Your guide will accompany you for this early morning flight to Lukla. Your commuter and your guide will receive you at the hotel and will head for Tribhuwan international airport. The 30 minute scenic flight will land in the most adventurous airport of Lukla. Once in Lukla, you will begin walking from in between the beautiful airport side settlement. You will not see much on this day and it is a very good walk to begin Gokyo lake trek with. You will come across village of Cheplung and few hamlets before you enter to a forest that opens to Phakding. Overnight in Phakding. A,B,L,D

You will mostly walk along Dudh Koshi river and majority of today’s walk is uphill. Since its an uphill ride today, you will take one climb at a time and walk slow. However, most of the trail traverses through forests of Rhododendron, Pine, Fir and magnolia which makes your experience pleasant. You will as well get the first glimpse of Mount Thamserku. After getting one of your permits checked several times you will enter Sagarmatha National park from beyond Monjo. The climb gets arduous and the altitude kicks in from beyond Jhorsale. Once we reach Namche, we call it a night. Overnight in Namche. A,B,L,D

It is uttermost important to acclimatize in Everest region before heading further up. Although this day is categorized as the rest day but you will not stay idle but rather hike to higher ground before descending down to Namche. There are several options for side trek from here and depending upon the condition the guide will take you to one of them. You will spend almost 4-5 hours exploring the higher ground and it will help you better adjust to higher altitude. Overnight in Namche. A,B,L,D

There are two ways immediately out of Namche but both meet at some point at Sansa. The villages in between are stunningly beautiful and you can as well see the village of Tengboche from the distance and Ama Dablam at its dropback. The trail frequently climbs and drops and makes its way from the village of the saint who introduced buddhism in Khumbu region. Phortse is a small settlement besides the gushing Dudh Koshi river. Overnight in Phortse. A,B,L,D

Despite it only takes around 4 hours to our final destination you will remain slow towards your destination. You will take several rest and make sure you are adapted well before you make any big ascend. At first you will walk through old and tall pine trees along with moss covered Rhododendron trees. Beyond Dole, you will only see tundra grass and some junipers and mostly it is barren. Beyond here, the settlement as well is not permanent. The views of Kantega and Thamserku is at their best. You will remain slow and steady as you are walking in the thin air. Out of Machermo, you will immediately start walking on dry and arid land with few scrubs. On your way you will as well come across several chortens and slowly streams that feed into Dudh koshi. Once you enter the vally of Gokyo, slowly and eventually you will begin seeing emerald green lakes. These lakes are glacial melts and high land fresh water lakes. On the other hand the view of Kantega towards the south is magnificent whereas, with every spur the Cho Oyu keeps getting bigger and better. Overnight in Gokyo. A,B,L,D

It is very important to acclimatize on this day, side by side, while having fun. Since our itinerary includes climbing up the pass of Chola, which surpasses 5000 meters this is a very important day. Depending upon fatigue and trekking conditions you will move ahead to explore couple of other lakes in the valley. It is almost a whole day trek as it take over couple of hours up and couple of hours down to the base. The trek offers beautiful views of the mountain Cho Oyu. Overnight in Gokyo. A,B,L,D

On this day you wake up early in the morning and head out to one of the highly acclaimed viewpoints of Gokyo Ri. You will view one of the most beautiful views of the Everest, dominating other mountains in the region. Gokyo Ri is a peak which requires no additional permits whatsoever and also gives you much required acclimatization for the pass. After spending brief moment on the top, you will descend down to your final destination of Thongnak. Overnight in Thongnak. A,B,L,D

In terms of ascent this is going to be the most difficult of all days in the Gokyo Lake trek. If you do not wish to do the pass, please let us know and we will tailor make the itinerary for you. You will have to start as early as before the sunrise and pack lunch. With every inch of walk the views of peaks like Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Phari Lapche, Kyajo – Ri gets better after reaching the top. On the other hand, once you reach the top you will be captivated by 360 degree view of the mountains in the Khumbu region. Even the descend is arduous and very technical but once you reach the base of the pass the view of Ama Dablam yet looks at its best and towards the end of the valley until we reach Dongla is splendid. The trail is comparatively easy and at most of the places the trail is even flat. Ama Dablam, Pheriche, Taboche and Cholatse Tso sets the stage in between this trail. Overnight in Lobuche. A,B,L,D

The trail gets more arduous because of elevation. The height difference from Lobuche to Gorakshep is just 200 meters but it is very difficult for people to have a proper sleep after Lobuche. Hence, you will go further to Everest Base camp and return back to Gorak Shep. Overnight at Gorak Shep. A,B,L,D

You will first ascent to Kala Patthar before descending down to Pheriche The views of the mountains from viewpoint of Kala Patthar offers a wonderful views of Everest and the surrounding mountains. You will follow almost the same trail up but after Dughla the trail forks and the lower trail leads to Pheriche. Overnight in Pheriche. A,B,L,D

Its descend all the way and you will begin descending below imja valley. The day is long downhill walk but you will traverse via some sprawling sherpa villages, kanis and beautiful monasteries. Overnight in Namche. A,B,L,D

You may find this descend one of the most difficult of all days. The trek from Namche to the bed of Dudh koshi is considered to be the most difficult and from here on, the trail becomes comparatively easier on the knees. Overnight in Lukla. A,B,L,D
